The Very Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
A family recipe that's a tasty as it is cozy.

The veeeery best chocolate chip cookies! Dare I say you don’t need to buy refrigerated cookie dough ever again? It’s a bold claim but this recipe is that good!
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 C butter (room temp)
- 1/2 C granulated sugar
- 1 C firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 C all-purpose flour
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°
1. In your mixer, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
2. Add in the eggs and vanilla.
3. Sift together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually add to the wet ingredients.
4. Add semi-sweet chocolate chips (at least 2 C, but measure with your heart here). Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
5. Bake at 375° for 10-12 min or until tops barely start to brown. Let rest on cookie sheet until firm enough to remove (5-10 min at least, good luck!).
Be sure not to overbake; the larger the cookie, the softer they are. Makes roughly 2 dozen cookies.
Pro Tips
This cookie dough freezes beautifully, making it perfect for baking on demand! I often make a double batch, baking half right away and freezing the rest for later. To freeze the dough, follow the recipe through Step 4 as usual. Arrange the cookie dough balls on parchment-lined baking sheets and freeze until solid (usually overnight). Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container.
When you're ready to bake, no need to thaw! Simply preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the frozen cookies for 15-17 minutes, or until golden and delicious.
